ABT-TUNED AUDI RS5-R GETS 390 KW; ONLY 50 TO BE MADE
The folks over at ABT are known for having a knack for upping the ferocity of Audi and Volkswagen’s sportiest products. The Bavarian firms latest victim is Audi’s RS5, where the ABT Power control unit now allows the vehicle to produce a Mercedes-AMG C63 S-beating 390 kW. This is some 59 kW more than the standard model.
Maximum torque is increased from an already healthy 600 N.m to 690 N.m. The result of this increased performance means an improved claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3,6 seconds.
The tuner has also revised the exhaust system by fitting a muffler system said to offer the 2,9-litre V6 engine with an enhanced snarl, whereas the dual oval exhaust exits of the standard model are replaced with a 102 mm carbon quad-pipe affair.
The suspension is upgraded with ABT Sport stabilisers and height-adjustable springs. ABT reassures us that this updated setup does not affect the original RS5’s GT credentials. Wheels come in the form of ABT Sport GR 21-inch units wrapped in ultra-low-profile 275/25 rubber.
This amped-up RS5-R will be limited to only 50 production units and is set to make its first live appearance at the Geneva Motor Show later this year.
