You have worked hard in order to afford your new car and I am sure you don’t want some low life taking it from you. Below are six ways that you can use to keep your car safe:

Garage it

Car thieves will much rather try and steal cars that are parked out on the street and if your car isn’t parked out on the street then it should be safe. Most buildings will offer an underground parking facility and you should use it.

Keep your car in good shape

If you maintain your car well and it is in good condition, you are more likely to have an alarm or a tracking device and you will definitely know that your car is missing.

Have an alarm LED or sticker

Just like an armed response sign on your wall of your home will deter burglars, so will a sticker on your car saying that you have an alarm or a tracker or that your car is under surveillance. Say there was a row of cars and all of them had blinking LED lights (alarm on) and one didn’t, the thief would no doubt go for the car that didn’t have the LED.

Don’t leave valuables on site

You need to make it seem like there is nothing in your car that is worth taking or better yet, don’t leave anything worth taking inside your car. Do not leave a laptop bag on the back seat or a GPS system in plain sight, thieves will steal it and they might even take the car too.

Park in a safe area

If you are going to park your car in an area that has a high crime rate and a higher concentration of criminals living there, like Braamfontein or Selby or Hillbrow, your car is far more likely to be stolen than if it was parked in a safer area with a security patrol or neighbourhood watch.

Have an anti-theft button

If you have a hidden button somewhere in your vehicle that you have to push in order for the vehicle to start, your car will not be stolen. Most will allow the car to start but the engine will cut out after a few meters of driving.

At Motors24, we cannot stop your car from getting stolen or recover it if it is stolen. But what we can do, is provide you with the latest car and bike news, all the upcoming events you could ask for and what car shows are happening or coming up.
