Renault Sport has revealed its new limited-edition Clio RS 18 derivative, which is named after the French automaker’s 2018 Formula One challenger.

Rumour has it that this special edition model will be launched in South Africa in the second quarter of 2018.

The new model echoes the black-and-yellow livery of Renault’s F1 car, with the brand saying it is “squarely aimed at motorsport enthusiasts and serious collectors”.

Based on the Clio RS 220 EDC Trophy (with a 1,6-litre turbopetrol engine sending 162 kW and 260 N.m to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission), the new offering is the latest in a long line of limited-edition Clio RS models that have paid tribute to Renault’s successes in F1.

The newcomer gains “RS 18” badging on the front doors, along with grey decals and a double-diamond logo on the roof. The front blade, side mouldings and wheel centre caps are finished in the brand’s trademark Sirius Yellow hue, contrasting with the Deep Black body colour. The rear badging, front bumper and RS logo are also finished in black, as is the diffuser.

Inside, you’ll find numbering on the RS-branded door sill, along with Alcantara and leather trim for the steering wheel and carbon fibre-effect trim for the air vent surrounds. Expect an Akrapovič exhaust to come standard.
